Ruminations about screenwriting, movies, Hollywood, and the Seattle filmmaking scene by NWSG President, Aadip Desai
August 2007:
Hi Everybody,
I wanted to drop a quick note letting you know what's coming up.
Let's get some business out of the way. We have raised our rates for Associate Membership to $75.00 per year. (It's only the equivalent to an extra cup of drip coffee per month.) We have made this decision in order to provide equal or better service to our valued members in the face of increasing costs of airfare, local transportation, and hotel accommodations (and taxes). We are also increasing the admission fees for Non-Members to $15 per event, and $8 for members of partner organizations.
We are really excited about our upcoming programming, including Sanjay Shah, Michael Hauge, and the triumphant return of Blake Snyder. Stay tuned.
I know many of you have asked about our progress on Writer's Groups. We're working on creating guidelines and suggestions for groups, as well as providing the framework and means for you to create your own Writer's Groups based on your own criteria. Finally, we will start providing more formal mentorship in the coming year as we develop more focused development and programming goals.
I'd like to thank you (our members) for your great participation in what is becoming the most valuable Northwest resource for screenwriters.
Keep writing,
Aadip Desai
President, Northwest Screenwriters Guild
